Our Goal

We strive to provide prompt and efficient transcript service by processing, printing and sending transcripts within five business days from the receipt of your request.

Our Guidelines

To provide this transcript service to you in a prompt manner, please provide us with the information required for each type of service as outlined below. All requests for transcripts must be in writing and contain your signature.

In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), SCC will not release your transcript to a third party without your written authorization; however, the College will release your transcript to another college or university as permitted by FERPA, if you have applied for admission to that college and that college or university requests your transcript.

If you have an outstanding obligation with the College, such as a short-term loan, library book, or a high school or college transcript, your SCC transcript will not be released until your outstanding obligation is resolved. During peak periods, transcript requests may take longer than five business days to process.

Several transcript services are available, including:

  • Official Transcripts Can be Sent to Another Institution or Employer: Official transcripts will be transmitted electronically via the Florida Information Resource Network (FIRN) or SPEEDE Express if the institution is able to accept electronic transcripts. All other transcripts will be mailed as first class mail with the United States Postal System.
The following information is required to process your request:
  1. Your name, current mailing address and social security number.
  2. Your dates of attendance at Seminole Community College.
  3. The exact mailing address where the transcript will be mailed.
  4. The number of copies to be mailed to this address.
  5. Your delivery instructions; either mail it now, after grades are posted for the current term or after your graduation notice is posted. Please allow two to three weeks for your degree notation to be posted.
  6. Your signature, which serves as the authorization to release your transcript.
  • Official Transcripts Can Be Released to the Student: Many colleges and universities will not accept a transcript delivered to them by a student. Prior to requesting this service, please verify with the college that they will accept an official transcript directly from you. If the college will accept a transcript from you directly, the transcript will be placed in a sealed envelope, which should not be opened by you.

  4. The number of copies to be provided to you.
  5. Your signature, which serves as the authorization to release your transcript.
  • Unofficial Transcripts Can Be Released to the Student: Unofficial transcripts are issued to you for your personal use. Colleges, universities and employers will not accept a transcript from you that is stamped unofficial or issued directly to you.

  • Transcripts Cannot Be Sent Via Fax to the Student, Another College or University, or an Employer: SCC will not fax transcripts for the following reasons:
  1. Most colleges and universities will consider a transcript sent to them via fax as an unofficial transcript, thus a follow-up electronic or mail copy must be sent.
  2. Telephone lines are often busy. which necessitates numerous attempts in trying to transmit the fax record.
  3. Transcripts transmitted via fax cannot be secured. FERPA requires that colleges protect the privacy rights of student records, and SCC believes it is unable to do this when utilizing fax technology.
