EDF 2005 Introduction to Education

This course is designed to introduce students to the philosophical, historical and social foundations of education. It also provides them with the opportunity to examine current educational issues and explore education as a career (appropriate as a sociological foundation).

Note: Fifteen hours of field experience in an elementary, middle or secondary school may be required.

EDG 2701 Teaching Diverse Populations

This course introduces teachers to the issues, challenges and opportunities of teaching students who reflect the diversity of the American population in terms of race, ethnicity, religion, culture, sexual orientation and gender. Topics emphasized include foundation of prejudice, elements of culture and the values of diversity (appropriate to renew any subject area).

Note: Fifteen hours of field experience in an elementary, middle or secondary school may be required.

EME 2040 Teaching with Technology

This course introduces teaching to the technologies available for classroom instruction and activities. Technologies covered include production, multimedia, communication and reference materials. The course will also address the ethical and legal issues associated with these technologies (appropriate to renew any subject area).
